Hannah Gadsby

Role: Production Designer

WOOF! is Hannah Gadsby’s (Nanette) newest show in which they grapple with fame in a changing world. Hannah toured WOOF! around the globe, and in September of 2024 sat down for a month at Abron’s Arts Center on the Lower East Side. I was brought in as the production designer to elevate and enhance the visual elements of the piece.

I worked closely with Hannah and their producer to understand the existing design intent and themes of the show. With that information and my own response to the material, we crafted a visual landscape that was elegant, beautiful, and vaguely aquatic, while still maintaining the classic “comedy set” aesthetic. Just as Hannah’s show is in conversation with their trajectory from unknown to world famous, the production design traveled the landscape between produced Netflix-special to bare-bones comedy club spotlight.
